How Intel’s Stopgap Shaped Modern Computing
In 1976 Intel started development on the most advanced computer processor ever conceived. This was a huge, ambitious, and slow project. It ran so long that Intel needed to throw together some kind of stopgap processor to remain competitive in the market.
